There were instances in my career where I was too far ahead of the time for the toy industry. I remember inventing an electronic baby doll which back then was thought to be too complex and expensive. Today there would be no trouble manufacturing and selling that product. Later my approach to dolls was to stay in what we call plush (soft dolls) and to look for uniqueness. Very often dolls are accessorized, which creates a “line concept” with many other items produced and sold. I have also been a lover of puppets and puppetry all my life. I have some very important Bill Baird marionettes and hand puppets in my private collection.
